The "Peace Dove" is a highly recognized symbol for peace throughout the world.
The origins of the dove and olive branch come from the story of Noah and the ark. The olive branch that was returned by a dove set out by Noah gave confirmation of the ends of the flood and a first sign of dry land.
After World War II a lithograph designed by Pablo Picasso for the international peace conference in Paris 1949 became the architect of the "dove of peace" symbol. Since then many variations of the dove for the symbol of peace were produced by graphic artists worldwide.
